Zach Wilson, meet the New England Patriots defense.
The New York Jets‘ rookie quarterback got acquainted with the Pats secondary early in Sunday’s matchup. Wilson’s first two series ended in interceptions by cornerback J.C. Jackson and safety Adrian Phillips, respectively.
Jackson’s pick got a brilliant assist from Devin McCourty, who had the presence of mind to tip the ball up.
Phllips’ interception simply was off the mark, intended for Wilson’s top target Corey Davis.
Jackson was second in the NFL with nine interceptions last season, trailing only Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard (10). It was Jackson’s 17th takeaway since 2019, which leads the league.
Phillips tallied two INTs for New England last year.
