WFT places Kyle Allen, six others on reserve/COVID-19 list originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The hits keep coming for the Washington Football Team.
Backup quarterback Kyle Allen was one of seven players Washington added to the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday, bringing the total to 17 players in just over one week. Key contributors Matt Ioannidis and Cam Sims were added to the list as well, a group that already includes star defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, cornerback Kendall Fuller and pass rusher Montez Sweat.
Of the 18 total players Washington has added to the reserve/COVID-19 list since last week, only one player, cornerback Darryl Roberts, has been activated. Vaccinated players must test negative twice 24 hours apart in order to return. Unvaccinated players are required to miss 10 days before returning, among other factors.
Below is the full list of players Washington added to the virus list on Wednesday.
Washington placed the following players on the Reserve/COVID-19 List:
QB Kyle Allen

With Allen’s status unclear for Sunday, Washington has signed quarterback Jordan Ta’amu to its practice squad. Starter Taylor Heinicke is expected to play, but has been dealing with both elbow and knee injuries. Practice squad QB Kyle Shurmur is the team’s only other option under center.
#WFT QB Kyle Allen will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list today, sources say. Taylor Heinicke still on track to play but he’s banged up.

It’s worth noting that Ta’amu is a familiar face for Washington, as the club brought him in during rookie minicamp this year. Ironically, Ta’amu and Heinicke were teammates on the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL.
