After he checked out of the game within seven seconds against the Cleveland Cavaliers in early Jan., All-Star forward Draymond Green has missed 19 consecutive games for the Golden State Warriors due to a lower back/disc injury.

Before he missed his 20th straight game on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets, the Warriors provided a new update for Green’s injury. According to the Warriors, the former Defensive Player of the Year is making “good progress” in his rehab and is expected to return “at some point” after the All-Star break.

Along with the progress in his rehab, Green has recently been doing “some light on-court-activity,” per the Warriors.

On his way to being chosen as an All-Star reserve for the 2022 campaign, Green averaged 7.9 points on 53.7% shooting from the field with 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 29.9 minutes per game. On the defensive end of the floor, Green led Golden State to one of the league’s top defensive ratings with 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

Without Green, the Warriors have been leaning on a mix of veteran Otto Porter Jr., rookie Jonathan Kuminga and Gary Payton II in the starting lineup.

Despite their recent slide, the Warriors will likely be patient with Green’s return as they prepare for a run to the playoffs. The Warriors currently hold the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, trailing the Phoenix Suns by 6.5 games.
