The Miami Dolphins have been the center of the football world over the last week with constant discussions about potentially bringing in Deshaun Watson from Houston.

This has put their current quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, in an uncomfortable situation. He has to sit there and answer question after question about his replacement coming in and running his team. That can’t be easy.

On Wednesday during his media availability, Tagovailoa was asked if he feels wanted by the Dolphins organization. “I don’t not feel wanted,” he answered with an awkward laugh.

Later on, Tagoavalioa was asked if he would feel better if Miami came out and publicly denied wanting Watson.

“Honestly, I don’t base my emotions off of who says anything about me or who is saying what,” he responded. “All I can do is my job and do it to the best of my capabilities. Everything else, it’s out of my control. But I have the utmost confidence and trust that I am the quarterback of this team, just off of conversations that I’ve had with [Brian Flores] and whatnot. That obviously stays between us. But yeah, I feel very confident that I’m the person.”

To this point, the Dolphins haven’t made any statements to quell the rumors. Owner Stephen Ross had that option at the recent league meeting, but he denied speaking, and Flores just keeps stating the Tagovailoa is their quarterback.

At some point, the team has to step in and protect their quarterback, especially if a Watson trade isn’t completed.
