For several weeks, the NFL has officially listed the Detroit Lions with a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. But that is no longer the case.

According to several reports out of Denver and confirmed by league sources, the Lions pick at No. 234 overall does indeed belong to the Denver Broncos. It stems from last offseason’s trade for wide receiver Trinity Benson.

Initially, the NFL had listed the pick as still belonging to Detroit because the unspecified conditions of the trade were not met. But that status has now changed, though the NFL itself has yet to update the information on its official web page or draft tracker.

The pick in question originally belonged to the Cleveland Browns, but it was swapped with the Lions pick at No. 223 overall in the trade two years ago for QB David Blough. The NFL did not believe the pick swap met the criteria of the trade initially, but apparently they have changed their mind.

This leaves the Lions with no picks in the seventh round. Detroit’s final pick is now No. 216 overall in the sixth round. The Lions have eight picks in the draft.
