Houston Texans coach David Culley is pleased with how his team performed in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys took a 14-7 lead into halftime at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, but Culley liked how his team started.

“We started with a turnover and we ended up scoring after the turnover which is always positive,” said Culley. “We didn’t have any pre-snap penalties on offense. I just didn’t like the way we finished right there. We got them back 85-yards, we got to keep them out of the end zone, we got to keep them backed up and we didn’t do a very good job of that. I thought our special teams did a great job tonight with our return game and our punt game and we just have to keep getting better and keep being consistent and not let them have those long drives.”

The Texans got on the board first after defensive end Jacob Martin strip-sacked quarterback Garrett Gilbert. Defensive end Charles Omenihu recover. Running back Mark Ingram capped off the ensuing drive with a touchdown as part of his seven carries for 24 yards on the night.

“That’s why we brought Mark here,” Culley said. “He’s a guy that during his career has not had many minus yard plays and when you give it to him he’s going to give you positive yards and he did that for us today.”
