Jul. 18—HARRISBURG — Wyatt Snyder hit a home run and he followed starting pitcher Carson Lengle on the mound to help Schuylkill West to an 8-2 victory over Stammel on Saturday in a Pennsylvania VFW State Teener Junior Division Tournament game.

Winning their second game in less than 24 hours after a 6-5 win over Lebanon Valley at Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill West used a six-run fifth inning to break a 2-2 deadlock in Saturday’s game at the 69th Street Field.

Schuylkill West will oppose Albright, also 2-0, at 1 p.m. today at Schuylkill Haven with the winner advancing into the next round of the state tournament.

Against Stammel, Schuylkill had eight hits as Snyder, who went 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs, earned the victory on the mound. Owen Miller went 2-for-3, while Nolan Plesnarsky had one hit and two RBIs.

Schuylkill West entered the round-robin playoff this weekend after winning the Schuylkill County Teener League’s Junior Division tournament last weekend.
