Jul. 23—Stratham’s Ben Malgeri signed a deal with the Detroit Tigers after being selected 525th overall in the 18th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, Northeastern University announced on Thursday.
Malgeri hit five homers in the 2021 CAA Tournament, won by the Huskies, and was named the Most Outstanding Player.
“It means the world to me to sign with the Detroit Tigers,” Malgeri said. “I want to thank the Northeastern staff, my teammates and my family for all the support and help to get me to this point. To finally achieve my lifelong dream of playing professional baseball is a crazy feeling, and I couldn’t be more excited to get started!”
