Jun. 9—WILLMAR — The Willmar Stingers have an early season winning streak going after picking up their third straight win Thursday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Stingers rallied to beat the Waterloo Bucks, 7-6.

Down 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Willmar tallied three runs with two outs. Reid Homan hit a two-run single that scored Brady Hill and Tyler Small.

Two batters later, Daniel Sayre dropped a single into left field that allowed Homan to score the winning run.

Homan, a junior from the University of North Alabama, was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. TJ Curd, from the University of Arizona, was 4-for-5 with an RBI for the Stingers.

Weston Lombard, a left-handed pitcher from Stillwater who plays at Gustavus Adolphus College, was credited with the win after tossing four innings of relief, striking out four. Jacob Webb, from Miami (Ohio) University, got his second save of the season, striking out two in the ninth.

Emiliano Gonzalez and Paul Steffensen each had two hits for Waterloo.

Waterloo and Willmar play again at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Bill Taunton Stadium.
