Steph Curry points backwards

There is officially a new three-point king.

Stephen Curry made history at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night as he set the all-time NBA record for most three-pointers made.

Curry tied Ray Allen‘s previous record of 2,973 on his first shot of the night, and blew a kiss to the sky. He missed his first attempt at breaking the record, but he got No. 2,974 on his third shot of the night about four and a half minutes into the game.

Curry let out a loud scream, and as teammates celebrated with him, he was given a standing ovation by the MSG crowd and hugged his dad, former NBA player Dell Curry. Curry then went over to hug Allen.

It seems like it’s almost bad karma that Curry set the record at the Garden against the Knicks – the Warriors selected Curry with the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA Draft – the Knicks had the eighth pick, and wanted him.

Naturally, that draft was held at what is now the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Curry broke the record in his 789th NBA game – Allen made his final three-pointer in career game No. 1,300.
