Despite the first regular-season game just a week away, the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to tweak their roster. According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the Steelers have worked a trade with the Seahawks for cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.
Witherspoon was the third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2017 and started 33 games over four seasons. Witherspoon signed with the Seahawks as a free agent in this offseason but his time with the team was short-lived.
The addition of a Witherspoon gives Pittsburgh a long, rangy boundary cornerback and really offers the secondary some freedom in their sub-package defense. There’s been no official word about the terms of the trade but we will keep you updated.
