Between their miserable four-game losing streak, their ridiculous two-quarterback approach and the embarrassing blame game started by their head coach—the Carolina Panthers have become the laughing stock of the NFL. That may go without any dispute.

On Thursday’s episode of Fox’s Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, professional talking head Skip Bayless unceremoniously classified the Panthers as a “clown show.” Given the nature of his program and brand, such a claim would often come off as a bit outlandish and over-the-top. But he’s not exactly wrong.

Bayless noted Carolina’s newest plan under center, one that’ll see Cam Newton start with a returning Sam Darnold coming in behind him, is particularly outrageous. And, well, it is—especially when you’re playing host to the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in front of what’ll likely be a disgruntled home crowd.

Without divulging any real details, Matt Rhule told reporters on Wednesday that Darnold will sub in “at some point” for Newton during the contest. That shouldn’t instill much faith for a team that hasn’t tasted victory in over a month.

Send in the clowns?
