Gymnast Simone Biles pulled out of the Olympic individual finals on Sunday for vault and uneven bars, USA Gymnastics announced.
The withdrawal marks the third event of the Tokyo Games in which Biles has decided not to participate following her initial withdrawal from the team finals earlier in the week.
“Today, after further consultation with medical staff, Simone Biles has decided to withdraw from the event finals for vault and the uneven bars. … We remain in awe of Simone, who continues to handle this situation with courage and grace, and all of the athletes who have stepped up during these unexpected circumstances,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement on Friday.

Biles pulled out of the women’s team finals on Tuesday, in which Team USA took silver.
A Team USA coach said Biles left the competition because she was struggling with a “mental issue,” not a physical injury.
“Physically, I feel good. I’m in shape,” Biles told NBC on July 27. “Emotionally, that kind of varies on the time and moment. Coming here to the Olympics and being the head star isn’t an easy feat, so we’re just trying to take it one day at a time, and we’ll see.”
One day later, Biles later withdrew from the individual all-around final, with the team citing her need to focus on her mental health.
“After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has withdrawn from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games, in order to focus on her mental health,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement.

The Friday statement said Biles will continue to be evaluated to determine whether she will compete in the floor and balance beam finals, which will be held on Monday and Tuesday.
