Michigan has been pulling out all the stops this month. As soon as the 15 month-long dead period concluded June 1, the Wolverines’ staff was on the road for satellite camps, and hosted weekend and mid-week visitors throughout the month.

This was the first opportunity for the Maize and Blue’s six new assistant coaches to interact with prospects in person, and it gave the team’s revamped recruiting department — which includes Director of On-Campus Recruiting and Operations Christina DeRuyter and Director of Strategic Communication and Branding Sydney Sims — the chance to impress while hosting recruits for official and unofficial visits.

Here are some social media sights and sounds from the weekend (from those who posted).

LB Sebastian Cheeks, Evanston (Ill.) High

A priority target, Cheeks was actually a mid-week visitor and left campus before the weekend began. I was a major deal that he made it to Ann Arbor, and he seemed to enjoy his time. The Wolverines’ staff had a productive Zoom call with Cheeks a couple weeks ago and pushed to get him in for a visit, which is exactly what happened. A lot of U-M assistant coaches are involved in this recruitment, including co-offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore, linebackers coach George Helow and defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.

ATH Kobi Albert, Fairfield (Ala.) High

Albert, an athlete who is mostly being recruited by the Wolverines at safety, made the trip from Alabama for his official visit, and received the full Michigan experience. In addition to the typical activities, which include some personal time with head coach Jim Harbaugh, Albert got the chance to meet U-M head basketball coach Juwan Howard while getting a tour of Crisler Center.

TE Colston Loveland, Gooding (Idaho) High

Loveland, who is primarily being recruited by tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh, was in town from Idaho for his official visit. Immediately following the visit, there began to be buzz surrounding how positive it was (update here).
