Seattle Storm center Mercedes Russell throws out first pitch at Mariners game originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

With the Seattle Storm not slowing down atop of the WNBA standings with a 12-3 record, the Storm took to the mound Wednesday afternoon.

In front of the Seattle Mariners crowd at T-Mobile Park with the sun shining, Storm center Mercedes Russell threw out the first pitch.

And she brought some heat!

Nicely done, Mercedes! We would definitely call that a strike.

There’s nothing like hosting the Colorado Rockies in a Wednesday afternoon game on a beautiful day in Seattle.

And now the Ms know if they ever need a relief pitcher, they’ve found one in their own backyard.

Russell also grew up in the pacific northwest in Springfield, Oregon.

On the season, Russell is averaging 6.2 points and 6.0 rebounds in 13 games played for the Storm.

And now she can add that strike to her resume.

Russell and the Storm will visit the Las Vegas Aces Sunday June, 27 at 1:00p.m. PT
