The Seahawks had been spared the latest surge in COVID-19 issues affecting the NFL up until now. Seattle just announced that two players – wide receiver Tyler Lockett and running back Alex Collins have been placed on their reserve/COVID-19 list. Lockett leads the Seahawks with 1,023 receiving yards this year, while Collins ranks first in rushing yards with 411.
To date Lockett has only missed one game his entire career. Losing him could be devastating for a Seahawks’ passing attack that has lost track of D.K. Metcalf in recent weeks.
As for Collins, he has been playing hurt ever since Week 6 when he ran for over 100 yards against the Steelers. Rashaad Penny’s blowup performance against Houston on Sunday softens the blow if Collins is unable to play against the Rams this week.
LA has its own COVID-related issues, of course. At last count the Rams had 16 players of their own on the list.
