The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Grand Final boiled down to momentum.
With a convincing victory over Suhaz Evos in the lower bracket final, Todak hoped to steamroll RSG MY to get revenge on them for dropping them to the lower brackets, as well as also becoming repeat MPL MY champions.
Alas, that was not to be.
While the veteran Todak squad easily took the first two games convincingly, they slipped and gave RSG MY some of their comfort heroes for the third game.
RSG MY proceeded to show why that was a mistake, with Ealtond “Lolealz” Rayner on Harith making plays to give them a lead mid-game.
However, Todak’s experienced squad was not one to let things slide, and made things challenging despite falling after 16 minutes.
With the momentum flipped, RSG MY took the fourth game easily, thanks to an outstanding performance by Mohammad Irwandy “Izanami” Lim on Lunox.
RSG MY continued to surge, taking the fifth round thanks to outstanding positioning and Izanami making great plays at melting the enemy with his Lunox, in particular Muhammad Danial “Ciku” Mohamad Fuad’s Helcurt every time he tried to jump into the fight.
The final and sixth game of the Bo7 saw early aggression by RSG MY, taking eight kills over Todak before they could answer in kind.
However, the writing was already on the wall with RSG MY’s early lead, and they closed it out in 16 minutes to become the MPL MY Season 7 champion.
RSG MY’s Lolealz also grabbed the Playoff MVP award, which came with a whole year’s worth of McDonalds vouchers.
When asked, Lolealz told Yahoo Esports he was looking forward to using his vouchers for when the Sumo Chicken burger is available, failing which he would settle for the McChicken.
RSG MY next at the upcoming MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2021, where they are set to face off against the other regional champions such as EVOS SG, EVOS ID and Thailand’s IDONOTSLEEP.
