The Cincinnati Bengals have made a trade ahead of 53-man roster cutdowns, sending Billy Price to the New York Giants for defensive lineman B.J. Hill.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news the Bengals will trade away their 2018 first-round pick.

Hill, 26, was a 2018 third-round pick who has appeared in every game of his first three seasons, registering 7.5 sacks. He’ll fill immediate three-technique depth behind Larry Ogunjobi.

Price has been unable to come close to the expectations that came with his draft slot and wasn’t a guarantee to make the roster for the Bengals. That starter Trey Hopkins is all the way back from his season-ending injury suffered late last year made a deal like this possible.

This move could clear a path for Mike Jordan to make the roster at guard and/or allow sixth-round pick Trey Hill to stick.
