Highlights: Red Sox blown out, swept by Orioles originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The Boston Red Sox’ 2021 season is off to a miserable start as the Baltimore Orioles completed the sweep in blowout fashion Sunday.
Garrett Richards struggled mightily in his Red Sox debut. The right-hander lasted only two innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while walking two. His replacement, Josh Taylor, didn’t fare any better with five hits and four runs allowed in 2/3 innings.
Boston’s bats stayed quiet with the exception of J.D. Martinez (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) and Christian Vazquez (3-for-4). The Orioles, on the other hand, were able to tally 17 hits and 11 runs in their victory.
Here were the highlights (and lowlights) from the Red Sox loss:
FINAL SCORE: Orioles 11, Red Sox 3
RED SOX RECORD: 0-3
