Jun. 29—Pitt’s class of 2022 continues to grow in a short space of time after offensive lineman Isaiah Montgomery said Monday he plans to enroll next year.
Montgomery, who attends Landstown High Schol in Virginia Beach, Va., is Pitt’s fifth commitment for next year’s class in the past three days. The overall count now stands at 11, and the class is ranked No. 42 in the nation by Rivals.com.
Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi had plenty of competition in landing Montgomery (6-foot-5, 287 pounds), who is the 27th-rated guard in the nation and 16th overall prospect in Virginia, according to Rivals.
Montgomery has offers from Virginia and Virginia Tech, plus N.C. State, Boston College and Florida State in the ACC. Arizona State, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Tennessee and West Virginia also offered scholarships.
He is the second offensive lineman in Pitt’s class, joining Ja’Kavion Nonar of Belle Grade, Fla.
Among the rising seniors Pitt is targeting before the start of the season is Perry defensive end Tyreese Fearbry, who has said he will announce his choice Sunday. Pitt and Penn State are considered the front-runners.
