Jun. 5—Adna took care of business on senior night, handing visiting Winlock a 71-30 defeat to secure an undefeated regular season Friday at home.
The Pirates had four players in double figures and two more on the brink as they had no trouble against a depleted Cardinals squad.
Freshman Eli Smith led all scorers with 15 points and five rebounds, while Chase Collins added 14 points and six assists and Braden Salme and Lane Johnson each had 10 points. Tyler Minkoff and Jacob Evans each pitched in nine.
Johnson and Zach Berg each hauled in six rebounds as the Pirates played in their first game since May 15.
“It was about what I expected after two weeks off — some good, some bad, some ugly,” Adna coach Luke Salme said. “But I liked our effort overall. It was great to play in front of our fans again and a fun atmosphere for our seniors.”
Minkoff, Berg and Evans all played their final games at home.
Winlock was led by Payton Sickles’ 14 points, while Abraham Mohsin added nine, Cole Fray-Parmantier had seven and Joe Welch and Sam Housden each finished with five.
Due to some wonky seeding, unbeaten Adna (6-0, 5-0 league) was given the Central 2B League’s No. 5 seed.
That means the Pirates travel to an eight-loss Raymond team (3-8), the Pacific League’s four-seed, in for the opening round of districts on Monday. That game is set for 5:30 p.m.
Winlock (3-9) is the C2BL’s No. 9 seed and travels to second-seeded Wahkiakum for a 7:30 p.m. game on Monday.
