Premier conference showdowns have not been the recent norm for the Big Ten during Week 1 of the college football season. This year, however, a number of conference powers are going at it to kick off the year.

Wisconsin gets Penn State to open the season in a conference clash right off the bat. For a Nittany Lions team that uncharacteristically struggled last season, the motivation is there for a bounce back.

Added motivation is also there due to the quality of opponent for the Nittany Lions in their opening game. In his press conference today, Penn State head coach James Franklin commented on playing the Badgers so early in the year:

Wisconsin faces a motivated Nittany Lions group on Saturday with kickoff set for 11 AM CT at Camp Randall.
