The Oklahoma Sooners just added their ninth commitment to the 2022 recruiting class after losing Jordan Hudson in the past week. Valor Christian running back Gavin Sawchuk just made his pledge to the Sooners. He currently sits as the No. 2 recruit behind the nation’s top wide receiver Luther Burden.

With the addition of the No. 2 rated running back and No. 1 player in the state of Colorado, the Sooners now find themselves back in the top five in recruiting rankings. 247Sports Composite team rankings have OU at No. 5 just a couple of points ahead of the Texas Longhorns at No. 6. Sooners now trail Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU, and Georgia on the leaderboard.

The Sooners are the only team of the top eight to be there with less than double-digit commitments from the 2022 recruiting class. The ‘ChampU’ recruiting event is already paying dividends for the Sooners on the recruiting front.

“The thing that’s most crazy, the craziest thing to me is they don’t have a Doak Walker yet. Those guys got robbed. I’m hoping to pull that for them and I’m real excited to be part of the family.” – Sawchuck to 247Sports

The newest running back has high hopes on what he can do with the Sooners in the very near future.
