Former Notre Dame defensive lineman Justin Utupo was recently named the head football coach at his high school, Lakewood High School in California, and now Utupo is bringing an old teammate in coordinate his offense and coach the quarterbacks.

Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire has joined Utupo’s staff as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Zaire was Notre Dame’s starting quarterback to start the 2015 season before an injury in the second game of the season ended his year. He would end up losing the starting job to Deshone Kizer and eventually transfer to Florida for the 2017 season.

Lakewood is coming off a season they played just three games in due to COVID-19, going 0-3.
