Apr. 10—WILLARD — The Norwalk baseball team scored early and often in a 19-1 run-rule win over host Willard in a five-inning non-league game on Friday at the Dean Ave. Complex.
The Truckers (5-3) scored the 19 runs on 11 hits, which included an eight-run fourth inning and a five-run second.
Ian Minor led Norwalk at the plate with a 3 for 4 performance that included two doubles and five RBIs. Evan Gaston was 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored, while Caleb Sommers was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Buddy Baker was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
Thomas Gfell added a single and an RBI for the Truckers, who also got four innings on the mound from winning pitcher Eli Obringer. He allowed one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Sam Tokarsky struck out the side for a scoreless fifth.
For Willard (1-7), Ethan Rodriguez was 2 for 3 with a double and Jake Cok singled and drove in a run.

GREENWICH — The Trojans fell behind 7-0 and pulled within 7-5, but were outscored by 10 runs over the final two innings of a six-inning non-league loss to the visiting Bobcats.
Carson Music was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Blaine Wheeler was 2 for 2 with a run scored to pace South Central, which fell to 4-3. David Lamoreaux and Karl Ferber added singles, while Jackson McCormack and Sam Seidel each had an RBI.

TOLEDO — The Truckers fell to 5-2 overall with Friday’s loss to the host Green Bears in an Ohio Tennis Coaches Association tournament matchup.
Braden Lloyd, Josh Newhouse and Ethan Brown each fell at all three singles positions by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
At first doubles, Carson Colahan and Ashton Coe dropped a two-set loss (6-2, 6-4). The team of Dylan Peaco and Bryan Sommers got the lone win, claiming scores of 6-2, 7-6 (1) to earn the victory.
Norwalk was at the Ashland Invitational on Saturday.
