Aug. 28—The Odessa Jackalopes named Russell Barone as the new assistant coach Friday to join new head coach Scott Deur on the coaching staff.
Barone spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach with Gilmour Academy in Cleveland, Ohio.
He played collegiately at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. and played three years of junior hockey in Minnesota and Wisoncsin.
The Jackalopes open the 2021-22 season at the NAHL Showcase Sept. 15 in Blaine, Minn.
