The Nets are hiring Brian Keefe as an assistant coach on Steve Nash’s staff, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Keefe broke into the NBA in 2005 as the San Antonio Spurs video coordinator and has worked his way up, serving as an assistant coach with the Thunder, Knicks, and Lakers. Per Wojnarowski, Keefe was a finalist for the Thunder’s head coaching job last year, before Mark Daigneault was eventually hired.

Keefe fills a vacant spot left behind by Mike D’Antoni, who announced on July 28 that he was stepping away from the Nets. He joins a group of Nets assistants that includes Jacque Vaughn, Royal Ivey, and Amar’e Stoudemire (player development assistant), among others.
