Report: Jabari Parker signs new deal with Celtics originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

Jabari Parker will remain a Celtic after all.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports the Boston Celtics are re-signing Parker to a new contract. The veteran forward had been cut by the team on Sunday and re-signed after clearing waivers Tuesday.

Parker signed a two-year contract with the Celtics last April with a $2,283,034 salary for the 2021-22 season. The deal would have been 50 percent guaranteed had Parker been under the contract on opening night. Waiving Parker saved Boston approximately $500,000 toward their luxury tax payment.

In 10 regular-season games with the Celtics last season, Parker averaged 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. He averaged 8.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in the team’s first-round playoff loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

With Parker back on board, the Celtics roster is now complete with 15 players.
