It’s Kevin Durant and everyone else in the race for NBA Finals MVP.

Yes, the Finals haven’t even started yet. Heck, the conference finals haven’t even started yet. But Durant is now down to +150 at BetMGM after his Brooklyn Nets took a 2-0 lead over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night in their second-round playoff series.

“Kevin Durant is the betting favorite to win NBA Finals MVP. BetMGM has received the most tickets and handle on Durant to win the award moving his odds from +700 to +150,” BetMGM’s Seamus McGee said. “The sportsbook would like to see the Nets get knocked out of the playoffs as Durant and James Harden are among the biggest liabilities to win Finals MVP.”

Durant was at +450 less than two weeks ago after the Nets had taken a 2-0 lead on the Boston Celtics in the first round. He was just behind LeBron James as the No. 2 betting favorite.

Now there’s no one close to Durant. Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is the No. 2 favorite at +500. Kawhi Leonard — whose Los Angeles Clippers open their series against Utah on Tuesday — is the No. 3 favorite at +750. Durant, Mitchell and Leonard are the only players with Finals MVP odds under +1000.

16.4% of the tickets for Finals MVP have been placed on Durant and nearly 34% of the handle — the total money wagered on Finals MVP — is on Durant. That’s double the handle of teammate James Harden. 15.1% of the handle is on Harden despite 12.2% of the tickets on Harden.

The only other player with more than 7% of tickets is Denver’s Nikola Jokic. The presumptive regular-season MVP is liked by 10% of bettors.
