NASCAR hits the St. Louis area as the Cup Series races for the first time at World Wide Technology Raceway near the Gateway Arch.
Though other NASCAR series have competed at the Madison, Illinois facility formerly known as Gateway Motorsports Park, Sunday marks the debut race for its premier series. The NASCAR Xfinity Series raced at the track from 1997 through 2010, and the Camping World Truck Series began racing there the following year and has held 22 races on the oval — including Saturday.
Several active Cup drivers have won at Gateway earlier in their careers in either the Xfinity or Truck Series, including Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Bubba Wallace, Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, Justin Haley and Ross Chastain.
