Jul. 20—SIOUX FALLS — Mitchell’s Masy Mock was defeated by Sioux Falls’ Reese Jansa in a four-hole playoff for the South Dakota Golf Association/Sanford Golf Series Championship title on Monday.

The recent MHS graduate posted a 1-over-par 73 at The Country Club of Sioux Falls, while Jansa also carded a 73 after 18 holes. After four playoff holes, Reese won with a par on No. 16.

With Jansa’s round already completed, Mock birdied the par-4, 334-yard hole to force the tie. Mock shot a 38 on the front nine and 35 on the back nine. She finished with four birdies.

Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink carded an 86 and finished in sixth place. She scored 43s on both nines. Mitchell’s Quinn Dannenbring (87) finished in seventh place. Dannenbring shot a 45 on the front nine and shaved four shots off her back-nine score.

On the boys side, Sioux Falls’ Luke Honner (71) edged Sioux Falls’ Nash Stenberg (72) for the championship.

Mitchell’s Macon Larson and Chamberlain’s Cameron Caldwell both shot 79s, finishing in a three-way tie for 19th place.

The top 30 boys and 12 girls qualified with points earned at the five regular season events.
