Jun. 13—Hitchcock Park hosted the annual Mitchell Junior Tennis Classic Saturday and Sunday at Hitchcock Park. The two-day event featured 12 divisions and players from 10 to 18 years old.

In boys 18 singles, Mitchell’s Macon Larson defeated Mitchell’s Tyler Loecker (6-1 6-1) in the finals. On his way to the finals, Larson knocked off Watertown’s Zander Binde (6-0, 6-0), Sioux Falls’ Jacob Morgans (6-0, 6-0). After receiving a bye, Loecker defeated Mitchell’s Jack Vermeulen (6-1, 6-2) in the semifinals.

In the girls 18 singles, Mitchell’s Olivia Huber won the consolation title over Mitchell’s Amber Moller (5-4(3), 4-2).

In girls 18 doubles, Amber Moller and Sydney Reynolds lost to Yankton’s Nora Krajewski and Sabrina Krajewski (4-2, 4-0) in the finals. Moller and Reynolds defeated Mitchell’s Julia Platt and Rapid City’s Emma Thurness in the semifinals (4-2, 5-3).

Platt and Thurness won the consolation finals over Mitchell’s Olivia Huber and Atlanta Stahle (1-4, 5-4(3), 10-8). Stahle and Huber lost to the Krajewski in the championship semifinals, 4-0, 4-1. Stahle and Huber secured a spot in the consolation finals with a 4-0, 4-0 win in the semifinals.

In girls 14 singles, Mitchell’s Tristen Zimmer won the consolation championship over Mitchell’s Maddie Childs (3-5, 5-3, 10-5). Zimmer defeated Childs in the opening round, 7-5, 3-6, 10-4. Zimmer lost to Sioux Falls’ Ellie Huber (6-2, 6-0) in the semifinals to setup a rematch with Childs in the consolation finals.

In girls 14 doubles, Mitchell’s Ashlyn Reynolds and Tristen Zimmer finished second. They lost 4-0, 4-0 in their title match.

In boys 14 doubles, Mitchell’s Kyle Galloway and Luke Jerke defeated Liam Weisser (Sioux Falls) and Luke Moeller (Yankton) by a 4-1, 4-2 score in the quarterfinals.

Galloway and Jerke lost to eventual champs Maverik Ragon (Sioux Falls) and Harrison Krajewski (Yankton) in the semifinals, 4-0, 4-0.

In consolation finals, Mitchell’s Dylan Putnam and Kaden Putnam lost in the finals. In the mixed 18 doubles, Larson and Stahle won the title over Moller and Loecker (4-0, 4-2).
