The Mets’ offense was stale in a 5-1 loss to the Miami Marlins to finish their road trip on Sunday afternoon.
Takeaways from the game
1) Francisco Lindor’s average dipped under .200 again with an 0-for-4 performance that included a strikeout. Lindor also had a throwing error during the game, his third of the season. So all around not the best day for him in the Sunshine State.
2) The only run that scored for New York was in the top of the eighth inning when Wilfredo Tovar singled home Johneshwy Fargas.
3) Jordan Yamamoto got the spot start – his first as a Met – but had to leave the game with right shoulder soreness, the team announced. He last four innings against his former Marlins squad, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits. His ERA on the year moved to 6.75.
4) Robert Gsellman was solid for the Mets after taking over for Yamamoto. He lasted three innings, allowing a single hit and striking out two over his 40 pitches.
5) Edwin Diaz was also solid for New York, striking out one and walking one over his inning.
