May 27—Three singles players and one doubles team from the area are set to compete in the Division I and II state tennis tournament Friday and Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

In Division I singles, St. John’s Jesuit senior Aidan Williams, the district champion, opens the 16-player state bracket with a first-round match against Cincinnati Anderson senior Payson Scott.

D-I doubles, the district-champion Findlay team of senior Carson Dale and junior Max Hosey drew a first-round match against the Cincinnati Sycamore team of junior Mark Karev and freshman Nick Meyers.

Ottawa Hills senior district champion Matt McGee will have a Division II first-round singles match against freshman Avi Mahajan of Cincinnati Seven Hills, and Bryan junior Jay Fortner, the district runner-up, will face Curtis Wagner, a senior from Millersburg West Holmes.

Competition each day begins at 9 a.m., with first-round and quarterfinals matches set for Friday, and semifinals, third-place, and finals matches scheduled for Saturday.

If Williams advances to the D-I quarterfinals, he would play the winner of a first-round match between sophomores Pavan Uppu of Pickerington North and Elijah Hadler of Medina Highland.

Should Dale and Hosey win their doubles match, they would move on to the quarterfinals to face the winner of a first-round match between teams from Dublin Jerome and Massillon Jackson.

If McGee is victorious in his Friday opener, he would earn a quarterfinal test against either Waverly junior Penn Morrison or Chagrin Falls senior Jackson Quinn.

Should Fortner advance, he would earn a quarterfinal match against either Pepper Pike Orange sophomore Ben Pomerranets or Cincinnati Mariemont sophomore Will Stephens.
