Louisiana had the single-largest legal mobile sports bet in history, according to Caesars, with the wager totaling more than $4.5 million.
Houston’s Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale — the owner of the Texas Gallery Furniture stores — traveled across the border into Louisiana to place a $4,534,000 bet with the Caesars Sportsbook app on the Cincinnati Bengals winning it all in Super Bowl 56 against the Los Angeles Rams.

If the Bengals win, McIngvale will take $7,707,800. His bet is the second-largest legal Super Bowl wager ever place, according to Caesars, only behind a $4.9 million bet during the Super Bowl in 2002.
“At Caesars Sportsbook we love taking epic wagers on massive events like the Super Bowl,” said Ken Fuchs, head of sports at Caesars Sportsbook, in a news release. “The Joe Burrow magic is pulling fans in, especially in Louisiana with his college roots. With this $4.5 million bet on Joe and the Bengals, Mack will make history again. And with the millions of Caesars Rewards credits he’ll earn – win or lose – he can enjoy time spent on OUR mattresses at Caesars anytime he wants to stop by.”

“Mattress Mack” has gained a cult following largely due to his philanthropic efforts and prominent in-store promotions. During Hurricane Harvey, he opened his stores as shelters for hurricane victims. He did the same during Hurricane Ida for Louisianans who evacuated and sent trucks of supplies to areas in need.
The wager isn’t the only way McIngvale is showing love to the Bengals. Any customer who spends $3,000 or more on recliners or mattresses at Gallery Furniture ahead of the Super Bowl gets a full refund if the Bengals win.
Louisiana has a lot to watch for during Super Bowl LVI. Six players across both teams played college ball in Louisiana, including five from LSU. The Bengals boast former LSU players Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Shelvin, as well as Tulane’s Cam Sample and Louisiana Tech’s Trent Taylor. Former LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss is also on the team’s practice squad.
