Jun. 27—NORWICH — The Norwich Sea Unicorns pitching staff combined to strike out 15 and allow just four hits in a 1-0 loss Saturday night to the Vermont Lake Monsters in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

Starter Bobby McBride (UConn) struck out 11 and walked three, allowing one run on two hits over five innings. Eddie Kaftan (Mitchell) added 2.1 scoreless innings and Kenny Heon (Mitchell) held Vermont scoreless over the final 1.2.

Kyan Lodice (Kansas State) had a single and a double for Norwich (14-13).

Chris Brown (UConn) had two hits and scored a run in the second inning for Vermont (12-14). Patrick Harrington (Assumption) pitched a four-hitter over seven innings to earn the victory.

— The Mystic Schooners scored five runs in both the fourth and eighth innings and beat the Bristol Blues 11-3 on Friday night. Christopher Brito (Rutgers) was 3-for-5 and Charlie Pagliarini (Fairfield) hit a three-run homer for the Schooners (8-7). Brendan Cumming had two hits, including a two-run single, for Mystic.

District 10 softball (8-10)

— Winning pitcher Peyton Swanson had seven strikeouts, adding a single and a double in East Lyme/Salem’s 21-6 over Ledyard in three innings. Lorelei Gronholm and Mikeal Richter also had doubles for East Lyme/Salem. Madison Binham had seven strikeouts for Ledyard. Binham, Camilla LeSage and Summer Casavant had singles.

— Waterford defeated Groton/Mystic 14-4 in five innings. Aubrie Willis and Reese Firmin combined for nine strikeouts, with Willis earning the win. Avery Gallerani scored three runs and Bella Rush had two hits for Waterford. Krissilyn Wildes went the distance for Groton/Mystic and struck out six.

District 10 softball (10-12)

— Audra Fiano pitched a no-hitter, striking out 14, as Waterford blanked Montville 10-0 Friday. Jada Collins, Elle DiBuono and Madison Goldstein each had multiple hits for Waterford.

District 10 baseball (50/70)

— In the final round robin game, New London beat Lyme/Old Lyme 14-0 Friday. PJ Evans had a three-run homer and was the winning pitcher for New London and Lou Lugo chipped in a grand slam to help seal the win. Lyme/Old Lyme will now play Ledyard in the double-elimination round Monday to see who will face top-seeded New London.
