Sep. 5—SALEM, Mass. — Olivia DeLoach led the Mitchell College volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Salem State on Saturday.
DeLoach had 16 kills and 21 digs for the Mariners (1-1), who won 20-15, 25-20, 25-8 and 25-23.
Molly Steel-Miller had 13 kills, Bree Rudolph had nine kills, Claire Binfield had 38 assists and Stephanie Costabile had 20 digs for Mitchell.
In other matches:
— Coast Guard picked up a pair of wins at the Haverford Invitational, beating Misericordia and Stockton both by the score of 3-1. Amanda Dake had 13 kills, six aces and 16 digs against Misericoria, Carmen Zipf had 17 digs and three aces and Noelle Tursky had 26 assists, 10 digs and four kills. Against Stockton, Sophia Galdamez had 19 kills, Dake had 15 kills, 10 digs and four aces and Tursky had 32 assists and 11 digs for the Bears (3-2).
Coast Guard opened its season with a pair of losses at the Haverford Invitational on Friday night. The Bears lost to Haverford 3-1 and fell to Stevenson 3-0. Against Haverford, Dake had 12 kills, four aces and six digs, Galdamez had eight digs and five kills and Tursky had eight digs and 29 assists.
Men’s soccer
— Noah Engstrom scored in overtime as Coast Guard beat Stevenson 1-0. Engstrom scored at 92:27 with John Flood assisting. Josh Hudson made one save for Coast Guard (2-0).
— Albertus Magnus scored on a penalty kick in the final minute of regulation and beat Mitchell College 1-0. Kelvin Cortez scored for Albertus (1-0). Former Stonington standout Joey Rosa made three saves for Mitchell (0-2).
Women’s soccer
— Mitchell College lost to Anna Maria 2-0. Alexandra Rowland and Valentina Villa scored for Anna Maria (1-1). Gemma Landry made 14 saves for Mitchell (0-2).
Men’s water polo
— Connecticut College opened its season with a pair of losses at Brown University’s Bruno Classic. The Camels lost to Florida 15-10 and Austin College 15-4. Christian Jacobsen scored six goals and Lucas Verrilli scored four times on the day for Conn.
