Jun. 12—Drew Lingen tossed a five-hit shutout as the Rochester Royals rolled past the New Market Muskies 13-0 in amateur baseball on Friday night at Mayo Field.

Lingen is a 2021 John Marshall grad. He struck out 11 and walked two in winning his first start with the Royals.

Matt Cano went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Royals while Sam Warren, like Cano a left-handed hitter, added a solo homer.

Shota Sawamura went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Royals while Alex Holets was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Michael Michalak went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Drew Block was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Royals (5-6) have won two straight and Friday’s win came against a Section 1B foe. They will host the Stewartville-Racine Sharks at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mayo Field.
