Jun. 27—WINNER — Joey Cole’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave Winner/Colome a walk-off win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney Saturday in Legion baseball play.

The Royals scored six unanswered runs after the Ducks jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings. Cole finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Aaron Gilchrist also knocked in two runs. Ashton Klein went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Kameron Meiners allowed two earned runs on six hits and fanned six in seven innings on the mound.

Rylee Deinert went 2-for-4 for MVPCS, while Brenden Wentland, Kolby Kayser and Caleb Krogstrand each drove in a run. Jaylen Kemp allowed four earned runs on four hits and struck out four in four innings and Wentland fanned five in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

Winner/Colome (5-4) travels to Valentine (Neb.) at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Ducks play Platte-Geddes at 7 p.m. Thursday in Corsica.

Tabor 9, Winner/Colome 7

WINNER — Winner/Colome scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but could not complete the comeback against Tabor on Saturday.

Preston Nedved started the scoring for the Bluebirds with a two-run home run in the first inning, while Trent Herrboldt had two hits and drove in two runs. Nolan Carda and Riley Rothschadl both had two hits and an RBI. Cards also allowed two earned runs on two hits and six walks and struck out six in five innings.

Aaron Gilchrist went 2-for-5 with three RBIs for the Royals, while Landon Thieman went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Evan Farner and Kameron Meiners both drove in a run. Farner and Jacob Beckers allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits and eight walks, while striking out nine.

Parkston 9, Alexandria 5

ALEXANDRIA — Parkston scored five runs in the first inning to take down Alexandria on Saturday in Legion baseball action.

Jon Akre drove in two runs for Parkston (5-3), while Max Scott went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kade Bialas, Logan Heidinger, Carter Kalda and T.J. Schmidt all had RBIs. Scott allowed five earned runs on two hits and four walks, while striking out eight in five innings.

Chase Arend bashed a two-run home run in the fifth inning for the Angels, while Casey Haynes also had an RBI. Hunter Robinson surrendered two earned runs on three hits and six walks, striking out five in five innings.

Parkston plays Elk Point-Jefferson at 7 p.m. Friday in Elk Point. Alexandria (4-7) hosts Platte-Geddes at 7 p.m. Monday.

Wessington Springs 8, Parkston 7

PARKSTON — Clay Olinger’s two-run double in the sixth inning propelled Wessington Springs past Parkston Friday in Legion baseball action.

Parkston jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but Wessington Springs scored six unanswered runs, as Mason Schelske and Landon Cleveland both went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the win. Caden Slykhuis also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Tyler Kole and Cade Mohling combined to allow four earned runs on nine hits and struck out six for Wessington Springs.

Logan Heidinger went 4-for-4 with an RBI for Parkston (5-3), while Landon Sudbeck and Kade Bialas both had RBIs. Isaak Bialas went 2-for-4. Heidinger and Isaak Bialas allowed six earned runs on nine hits and nine walks.
