Sep. 16—Leechburg Area’s varsity football team will be playing Friday’s game at home instead of away, the district posted on its Facebook page.
The players will face off against Clairton without fans present to support them, according to the post.
“A decision that was not our own dictates that there will be no fans, no cheerleaders, no band,” Leechburg Area officials said. “Only football players, coaches and necessary game day workers will be permitted in.
“If the game stayed at our opponent’s field, there were going to be no fans permitted, either. This is what is best for the game to proceed this week and what is best for our players.”
The district alerted fans to be on the lookout for details on following the game via livestream.
