Laurie Carr, the wife of Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, died Tuesday after a battle with cancer, the school confirmed. She was 70.

The Carrs married in November 1994, less than a year before Michigan football elevated its longtime assistant to head coach following the resignation of Gary Moeller.

Lloyd Carr, now 75, spent the next 13 years leading the Wolverines. During his tenure, Michigan won a share of the 1997 national championship and compiled a 122-40 record. He retired in 2007.
