It looks like good news for Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral.

Corral left Saturday night’s Sugar Bowl matchup against Baylor in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and was transported from the sideline to the locker room on a cart. He later emerged on crutches and without his pads and helmet, visibly emotional as it was clear he would not be able to return to the game.

After the game, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin told the media that x-rays were negative on Corral’s injury, and indicated that the injury didn’t appear to be one that would impact his status for the upcoming NFL draft.

Widely regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2022 NFL draft class, Corral is expected to be a first-round pick.
