The Los Angeles Lakers were on their way to surprising a national television audience on Saturday night when their hopes of pulling an upset can an unexpected boost. Nets star guard Kyrie Irving was ejected in the third quarter of Saturday night’s game for an altercation with L.A.’s Dennis Schröder. Schröder, too, was ejected for his part in the altercation.

The Lakers led 66-62 at the time of the ejection and then the Lakers were able to extend the lead well into double digits during the rest of the quarter. The Lakers lead the Nets 92-77 after the third quarter of Saturday night’s ABC primetime affair.

L.A.’s usually great defense has been aided by excellent 3-point shooting during the game. They still have a quarter left but the Lakers are closing in on what might be their best win of the season.
