FIRST ROUND

No. 19 pick: Traded to Hornets for future first-round pick

After not trading up in the first round, the Knicks then traded their 19th overall pick to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for a future first-round pick, SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley has confirmed.

The Knicks drafted Texas’ Kai Jones for Charlotte, as the trade won’t become official until after the draft.

No. 21 pick: Traded to Clippers for No. 25 pick and 2024 second-rounder

After trading out of the No. 19 pick, the Knicks also dealt their No. 21 pick, sending it to the Los Angeles Clippers, SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley confirms.

The Knicks have moved down to No. 25 in the first round, picking up a 2024 second-round pick (originally from the Pistons) in the process.

No. 25 pick: Houston G Quentin Grimes (via Clippers)

After trading out of each of their first two picks, the Knicks finally made their first selection of the night at pick No. 25, taking University of Houston guard Quentin Grimes.

The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 17.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists, shooting 40.3 percent from three-point range.

Last season, Grimes was named Third Team All-American and was the Co-Player of the Year in the AAC.

According to SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley, Tom Thibodeau was among the Knicks contingent who was impressed with Grimes during the pre-draft process.
