Klay somehow makes incredible layup off top of backboard originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Klay Thompson is known for his 3-point shooting, but for the second time since returning to the Warriors‘ lineup, he made jaws drop with a drive to the basket.
Early in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ 122-108 win over the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on Monday night, Thompson made an incredible layup with the ball touching the very top of the backboard before going in.
After the ball was deflected beyond midcourt, Thompson retrieved it, but there were only five seconds left on the shot-clock, so he had to hustle. He drove by Rockets rookie Alperen Sengun and flipped in the wild shot while also drawing the foul. He completed the three-point play.
While Steph Curry stole the show with a 40-point eruption in the win, Thompson finished with 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field and 1-of-8 shooting from 3-point range.
Back on Jan. 9, in his first game in 941 days, Thompson threw down an epic poster dunk over two Cleveland Cavaliers defenders, blowing the roof off Chase Center. He even dropped a nasty snarl for everyone, showing that he was fully back after missing two and a half years with two major lower leg injuries.
