Kevin Durant didn’t waste any time to show his feelings on recent fan behavior at Madison Square Garden and the Wells Fargo Center. The players affected by these acts were his former teammate Russell Westbrook and Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young. A fan was caught trying to spit on Trae Young on a late game inbounds play, while in Philadelphia, a fan disgustingly spilled popcorn all over Westbrook as he was heading to the locker room:
On Thursday, the league announced that those fans will be banned for life. The Nets forward responded saying, “It’s all fun and games until ya (expletive) is banned for life.”
As players, the league is working to protect them as much as possible as arenas continue to allow more fans in. It’s ok to support your team passionately, but when that line between players and fans are crossed that is when things become a problem. Nets veteran Blake Griffin also responded to the chaos by saying “I think what happened to Russ (Russell Westbrook) is far beyond that line — You never want anything to cross the line.”
