There’s no denying the level of chemistry quarterback Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase established at LSU.

Chase had a breakout year in 2019 as the team went undefeated and capped it all off with a national championship victory, totaling 84 receptions for 1,780 yards with 20 touchdowns.

Now that Burrow and Chase are both with the Cincinnati Bengals, the two will look to build upon that at the NFL level.

Chase brings a lot to the table for the Cincinnati offense, and there’s not anything that seems to need major tweaking ahead of his rookie season.

But Burrow has already noticed some improvement in a specific part of Chase’s game that was already solid to begin with.

Burrow told reporters this week that Chase has looked much smoother as a route runner than he did in 2019.

Burrow has had high praise for Chase all around since the Bengals selected the wideout fifth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“I told everyone coming in that he’s not going to bust — he’s going to know exactly what to do, he’s going to be a pro. And that’s exactly what’s happened,” Burrow said in a press conference. “And then he’s just super smooth on the field. He doesn’t look like he’s going super hard, and guys are coming up to me it’s like, ‘Is he going hard?’ And then we go up against a defense, and you can see he looks exactly the same, but he’s going. … He’s just at a different speed than everybody else.

“It’s exciting to have him. He’s going to be great for us, and he’s a great friend as well.”

With this duo and more to be excited about as the Bengals aim to get stronger across the board this year, it’s safe to assume it’s onward and upward for this offense.
