This time took a little bit longer.
The result, however, was similar.
OU’s offense adjusted to the pitcher it was facing in a clear way, got rolling and once again, the Sooners rolled to a win at the Women’s College World Series.
Saturday, it was Texas’ Hailey Dolcini the Sooners adjusted to and the result wasn’t quite as dramatic but still powerful, as OU moved within one win of the championship series with a 7-2 victory over the Longhorns in the winner’s bracket Saturday at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.
OU (56-2) advances to Monday’s 11 a.m. semifinal where they’ll take on the winner of Sunday’s matchup between UCLA and the loser of Saturday’s late game between Oklahoma State and Florida.
Texas (44-20-1) will face Arizona in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Sooners got to Dolcini quickly, as a Jayda Coleman double and Jocelyn Alo’s 118th career home run put OU ahead 2-0 just two batters into the contest.

Then Dolcini settled in, working efficiently against the Sooners’ hitters.
Dolcini peppered the strike zone, OU took first pitches regularly and often found themselves quickly behind in the count.
Once again, Rylie Boone was the first indicator of a different approach at the plate.
In Thursday’s 13-2 win over Northwestern to open the WCWS, it was Boone’s third-inning double that showed how the Sooners had adjusted to Wildcats’ pitcher Danielle Williams’ changeup.
This time, it took until the fifth inning before Boone showed the change in approach.
The junior from Owasso laid down a bunt single on the first pitch of the inning, leaping in excitement as she crossed the base safely just ahead of the throw.
Jana Johns followed by laying down a sacrifice bunt on the first pitch herself before Coleman — again on the first pitch — drove a double into the right-center field gap to score Boone and put the Sooners up 3-1.
Alo also was aggressive in attacking Dolcini, fouling off three consecutive pitches before driving in another run with a single up the middle and driving Dolcini from the game.

Tiare Jennings then greeted Sophia Simpson with a two-run homer deep into the left-field bleachers to extend OU’s lead to 6-1.
For the second consecutive game, Patty Gasso started Hope Trautwein in the circle, and once again Trautwein came up big.
The Longhorns got on the board in the first when Alyssa Washington drove in Mia Scott with a double down the left-field line after Scott singled and stole second.
Texas had plenty of chances to add to the score, with base runners in every inning, but Trautwein (20-1) continually found ways to escape.
Texas’ Janae Jefferson hit a solo homer with one out in the seventh before Trautwein retired the final two to secure the victory.
