After a phenominal rookie year, the Baltimore Ravens are expecting big things out of second year running back J.K. Dobbins. The former Ohio State University star showed his burst, elusiveness, balance and more as he led all running backs in yards per carry in 2020 while also breaking Baltimore’s rookie touchdown record.

Dobbins was asked about the fact that it seems like he has a chip on his shoulder. He responded by saying that he has a “pretty big” chip, using things like Pro Football Focus’ ranking of him earlier in the offseason as fuel.

“Yes, I’m trying to get bigger, stronger and faster – always. You know that chip on my shoulder is pretty big. Just a little fuel, like PFF [Pro Football Focus] ranking me 26th … I don’t think I’m 26th, but I love that. That gives me room to improve. I’ve got people to prove wrong.”

Pro Football Focus made headlines when they ranked Dobbins as the 26th-best running back in the NFL entering the 2021 season. Their decision to rank Dobbins so low caused quite a bit of backlash, especially among Ravens faithful. Even Mark Andrews and Dobbins himself made their opinions of the ranking known.

With a full offseason to get better and an overall improved Baltimore offense, Dobbins is widely expected to have a massive breakout season in 2021. He seems ready to shoulder more of a workload, and even if people doubt him or underrate him, he’s ready to show the world just how good he can be using the fuel that his doubters give him.
