D.C. United picked up its fourth win of the Hernan Losada era on Saturday night to climb into sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. It was their second straight win over Inter Miami, and the Black-and-Red will look to make it three straight games taking all three points when they face Montreal on Wednesday night.
Due to Canadian border issues, D.C. United travels back down to DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to take on the Impact for the first time this season. United has found success in the home stadium for Inter Miami, where they won 3-0 on what was far and away the best game during Losada’s short time at the helm.
It was there where Ola Kamara scored a brace and Paul Arriola scored a fantastic solo effort in a display that showed maybe D.C.’s veteran stars still had some magic left in the tank for a more consistent run this season. Kamara scored from the penalty spot and D.C. held on to a 1-0 win against the 10-man Miami squad on Saturday, and could be looking for a similar grind-it-out victory against the Impact on Wednesday night.

Two straight wins can provide the Black-and-Reds with a sense of confidence and comfort that they can compete with teams who finished above them in the table a season ago such as Montreal. It can also lead to the rise in confidence in some of the club’s peripheral players. One of those players is Andy Najar, who pulled out of one the most dazzling dekes of the weekend. It was a beautiful meg before a wondrous pirouette Maradona move around the sliding tackle and then a pinpoint cross-field pass.
Highlights like that from Najar are worthy enough to make fans want to keep their eyes glued to one player for longer stretches of the game. As that right third of the three in the back system Losada has employed, Najar has found himself on the ball more and more as his manager’s high pressure system begins to take form.

Ola Kamara, Striker, D.C. United (6 games, 1 assist, 4 goals): Kamara has scored three of the last four goals for D.C., and it wouldn’t be crazy to think the center forward will find the back of the net for a third straight match against Montreal.
Victor Wanyama, Midfield, Montreal (7 games, 1 goal): The former Tottenham and Southampton defensive midfield runs things in the middle of the park for Montreal. Keeping track of and matching Wanyama’s physicality will be paramount for a positive result.
